I had the same problem with a NAS device. I opened it up and removed the battery and all power sources. I then waited a few minutes and put everything back. The system reset to factory defaults. It now works for me. I later found out the unit has three ethernet ports.
And if the settings are incorrect then the 'Gateway' is not found. You may want to connect it directly to a router and see if it gets an ip. I've tried hyperterminal and it didnt work. Hi walter, that usually means the first few sectors are bad(they are the important ones) or, the drive has a faulty motor/ is drawing too much current.
There are two things to try. If you have a CDrom drive then boot a clean OS eg windows 98/XP from cdrom, or whatever os you were starting on that drive.
You might then be able to access the hard drive from the command prompt or from the windows os on the cd in which case its just a few bad sectors that may be repairable by diags. Ignore it and install anyhow (since DirectX 11.14 are in the API of newer OS than Win98) or pick some drivers that don't require 18-year-old Microsoft bundling. The company's drivers are at (with yours at the bottom, I think) and there are probably better substitutes; in fact, I kind of expect that current Linux and Windows versions have drivers built in so you could just plug in the thing and have a working controller, force feedback controls et al.
