Hello, Hauptwerk uses the console input to listen to external sequencer MIDI and the Hauptwerk sample set must be set to respond to the MIDI stream received from the external sequencer. Look in General Settings, MIDI Ports and check the box in the console MIDI in column on the row showing the name of your MIDI adapter. Do not check the box in the Sequencer in column for anything but the VST Link row. It is also possible to set up Hauptwerk as a VST inside of some Host programs but I have found it easier to use an external (external to Hauptwerk, by using a software MIDI cable both programs can run in the same computer) sequencer and set up an alternate Hauptwerk ICON to match the settings on the external sequencer. The crux is that if you use an external sequencer, you must set Hauptwerk to play the manuals on the channels as they are set to in the external sequencer. The expression pedals must be set to listen for the expression pedal data from the sequencer (i.e. Channel, cc number and data). Most of this is done after the organ is loaded and is under the Organ settings>keyboard>Pedal (or great or swell, etc.) I hope this helps a bit. I'm wondering why my MIDI file I created in ProTools is not supported in Hauptwerk. What I want to do is create MIDI files of organ accompaniments and favourite hymns as I am a clarinet player, not a proficient organist, though I enjoy playing the easier hymns.
